IN 1965, I came out to Chester as an 19 year old and drove combines on the Kolstad farm....drove JD 55’s obviously with no cabs, can still remember the “itching”in the Barley dust. Great memories!!!

In early 90s i went to Chester and drove for my Uncle Leo Jensens farm. He had passed but there were still family running things. JD 7700 was quite a nice ride compared i am sure..still itchy.

It was great and I still remember it fairly well since 2009. I linked the trip report and photos in the description. Upper, we just went until we hit the house-size boulders. Lower, we went until we ran low on time. Lower is easier.

Battery 201 was built 1943-44. It had two 6-inch guns but the tubes were never installed. A concrete 6-story Battery Commanders Tower was built quite a ways behind the battery for spotting enemy surface vessels. There are plans in place to restore this bunker and tower
